CSC to do network services for NLM

The National Library of Medicine has awarded a task order to Computer Sciences Corp. to provide computing and network services.

The order, which has a one-year base period and nine option years, could be worth $223 million if all options are exercised.

CSC will work with the Office of Computer and Communications Systems, which maintains the library's computer network backbone and helps other offices operate LANs.

The office also coordinates a variety of computer services to organizations throughout the library. Its staff develops computer systems for information retrieval applications and office automation.

OCCS also looks for ways to apply high-performance computing to biomedical problems.

CSC will hire subcontractor AAC Associates Inc. of Vienna, Va., to provide network support.
