Missouri shows largest state ERP system
Missouri officials last week put the finishing touches on the largest enterprise resource planning system in state government. The Statewide Advantage for Missouri system took four and a half years and about $35 million to complete, said Jan Heckemeyer, SAM II system administrator.
SAM II replaces an early 1980s-vintage payroll, human resources and accounting system that ran on an IBM mainframe, Heckemeyer said.
To streamline the state procurement process, SAM II offers an online bidding system, at
www.oa.state.mo.us/purch/index.shtml, that Missouri officials said has reduced postage costs by 25 percent and printing costs by 50 percent in fiscal 2001. SAM II's human resources, payroll, accounting and budget modules run on a password-protected client-server system.
The system uses AMS Advantage software from SAM II contractor American Management Systems Inc. of Fairfax, Va.
