Xerox Corp. received a five-year contract valued at $50 million to provide network printers for the $6.9 billion Navy-Marine Corps Intranet.
Electronic Data Systems Corp., the lead contractor for NMCI, awarded the deal to Xerox last month.
Xerox will deliver and install Phaser color and monochrome network printers at 300 military sites worldwide. NMCI, a Navywide managed system for voice, video and data communications, will consolidate 200 networks into one intranet, linking more than 360,000 desktop PCs.
EDS leads a team of contractors known as the NMCI Information Strike Force, chosen by the Navy to build and run the intranet.
