Bush homeland security plan has an IT focus

The administration is putting together a plan to incorporate IT into its four initial homeland security initiatives, senior administration officials said last month.

'The plans will help meet the objectives of increasing response time and improving the quality of decision-making,' one official said. 'We want to have a concrete set of actions to move these forward.'

The priorities for homeland security outlined in President Bush's fiscal 2003 budget proposal are supporting first responders, defending against bioterrorism, securing the country's borders and sharing information and intelligence.
