Commerce One of Pleasanton, Calif., has sold its federal division to the division's managers. The newly independent company, Aquilent Inc., is headquartered in Laurel, Md.
The buyout was led by Paul Brubaker, Aquilent's chief executive officer. The new company has 127 employees and annual sales of about $21 million, Brubaker said. Among its federal contracts, Aquilent designed and operates the Postal Service's Web site, at
www.usps.com, created a Web portal for services procurement at the Naval Sea Systems Command and developed the
www.clinicaltrials.gov site for the National Library of Medicine.
Brubaker said none of Aquilent's federal contracts would be affected by the change.
