Following a recent spate of reports about government credit card abuses, the Office of Management and Budget is asking agencies to review their card administration policies.

OMB director Mitchell E. Daniels Jr. last month sent a memorandum to agency heads asking that they provide effective improvements to internal control systems for the cards. He said agencies' policies need to improve if the programs are to continue.
New plans, due June 1, should detail each agency's problems and the internal policies that will correct them. Daniels also asked agencies to identify the number of credit cards each has issued.
