The General Services Administration will likely make some changes based on four recommendations of Accenture LLP, administrator Stephen Perry says.
The New York consultant looked at whether the IT and telecommunications offerings of the Federal Technology Service and Federal Supply Service overlap unnecessarily. Accenture recommended combining the sales and marketing staffs, reducing duplicative IT contracts, expanding assistance services to non-IT areas and improving organizational incentives.
'This is not a downsizing effort,' Perry said. 'This is an opportunity to handle more of what the customer wants.'
GSA has established teams of workers to develop a plan for implementing the recommendations.
'I don't see a big change between what we are doing today and what we will do tomorrow,' Perry said. 'The teams will answer whatever questions remain and make sure what we are doing is feasible and efficient.'
