California attorney general Bill Lockyer last week announced the end of a $95 million enterprise software contract with Oracle Corp., relieving the state of further financial obligation.
'Oracle is pleased to have resolved this matter to the satisfaction of the state of California,' said Jim Finn, Oracle's vice president of worldwide corporate communications.
California Assemblyman Dean Florez, who was removed July 2 from the audit committee investigating the contract [GCN, July 15, Page 1], said, 'The unwinding of the Oracle software contract is a welcome resolution to a rotten deal. From the beginning, my agenda was to get our money back. We did. Any price I paid politically was worth it.'
