Treasury buys software to secure network
The Treasury Department will secure connections to and within its enterprise network via authentication, digital signatures and Entrust Inc. encryption.
The Dallas company's Secure Web Portal and virtual private networking software will cost about $882,000. Acting Treasury CIO Mayi Canales said the program would safeguard the transfer of sensitive information among the department's 12 bureaus.
Entrust's Secure Web Portal bundle includes GetAccess, TruePass 6.0 and Authority software.
GetAccess allows basic access rights and single sign-ons. TruePass supports multiple authentication methods, including digital IDs, challenge and response questions, personal identification number servers, mobile phones and smart cards. Authority handles encryption and digital signatures.
