Two companies have teamed up to offer agencies the kind of third-party product analysis for which the private sector often pays big bucks.
The service, dubbed Tech Monitor, records and analyzes agencies' experiences with IT vendors, said Thomas Davies, senior vice president of government solutions for Current Analysis Inc. of Sterling, Va.
Current Analysis has a long-term partnership with the other organization involved in Tech Monitor, the nonprofit Public Technology Inc. of Washington, Davies said.
Best of breedThe advisory service covers several hundred companies and products. Three focus areas are telecommunications equipment and services, professional services and enterprise software, Davies said. Davies said the Tech Monitor analysts take a best-of-breed approach to choosing products and vendors for the listings. They include comments where available from agencies, primarily state and local ones, that have used a product or vendor in the past.
An annual subscription costs less than $5,000 per year, Toregas said.
