Navy awards contract for 4-D imaging system

The Office of Naval Research this month hired Orincon Corp. International as system architect and integrator for the Navy's Theater Undersea Warfare program.

Under the $25 million indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract, the Kailua, Hawaii, company will develop technology so that a commander can rapidly perceive an underwater battle, define the battle space, and identify and allocate resources for joint and coalition forces.

The goal of the undersea warfare program, to be completed by June 2007, is to improve submarine detection capabilities.
