Getting up close and personal with a technology can often clarify its usefulness. In that spirit, the General Services Administration's Center for Information Technology Accommodation operates the Assistive Technology Center to help federal executives evaluate systems that help employees with disabilities.
The center's Assistive Technology Showcase lets officials examine hardware and software available to create compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act Amendments and prevent problems such as repetitive motion injuries. The systems address various issues, such as mobility, hearing, visual and musculoskeletal impairments.
The showcase is at 1800 F St., NW, Room 1216 in Washington. To schedule an appointment to examine the systems, contact Marilyn Estep at 202-501-3322 or on TTY at 202-501-2010.
