The IRS is adapting its tax law and tax processing training courses to make them compatible with the Office of Personnel Management's E-Training initiative.
The IRS bought Plateau 4 Learning Management System from Plateau Systems Ltd. of Arlington, Va., for 20,000 employees and plans to make about 50 percent of its training material available online by 2006. The service will begin implementing the software across the agency shortly, IRS spokesman Anthony Burke said.
Plateau 4 will also give IRS managers the ability to customize coursework. It will automatically send e-mail messages alerting IRS agents to tax code revisions and procedure changes that require retraining.
