Microsoft Corp. is making what it calls a gigantic push for more public-sector sales'an area the software giant acknowledges its competitors have dominated.
'The amount of investment we're putting into this is a hundredfold more than what we were doing two or three years ago,' said Scott Suhy, director of business development for Microsoft's government group.
Meeting with government resellers last month at Microsoft's Reston, Va., office, company officials said they are hiring about 20 more people, conducting more federally oriented R&D, and targeting specific IT products for command and control, e-government, health care, Section 508 accessibility and security.
