Air Force re-ups Raytheon for wireless work

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has awarded Raytheon Co. a $4 million contract to continue developing technology for the Next Generation Wireless Communications program.

The Air Force Research Laboratory in Rome, N.Y., awarded the XG contract under Phase 2 of the program. The company will provide systems development and integration, coupled with modeling and simulation of spectrum sharing. Raytheon will demonstrate efficiency improvements by June 2004, with a goal of 10 to 20 times today's spectrum use.
