The National Oral Health Surveillance System is a group of databases and statistics maintained by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Division of Oral Health and the Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors.

Government data on the public's oral health includes information about dental visits, teeth cleaning, tooth loss and fluoridation. CDC provides access to much of the data at www.cdc.gov/nohss. The agency relies on three national and five state surveys to gather raw data. Each of the surveys generates separate databases about tooth care and oral health. One example is the Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System, which uses surveys of high school students to monitor threats'such as poor diets'to the health of young people. Another is the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, which collects data on the oral health of the general population, among other topics.
