Pentagon taps EMC to help with renovation

The Pentagon Renovation Program will buy $40 million worth of networked storage and business continuity software under a firm, fixed-price contract with EMC Corp. of Hopkinton, Mass.

The one-year deal with four optional years covers hardware, software and services, said Steve Alfieris, EMC's vice president and general manager of federal systems. It includes data replication, storage hardware, hierarchical storage management, storage network services, operations and maintenance.

Brenda Kersh, alternate sites team leader for the Pentagon Renovation and Construction Program Office, said the renovation program, known as PENREN, is modernizing the IT infrastructure for the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the leaders of the four uniformed services.
