GSA prepares for follow-on to FedBizOpps

The General Services Administration this month plans to release a draft request for proposals to upgrade and enhance FedBizOpps, the government's procurement portal.

The agency is finalizing the acquisition strategy to upgrade the FedBizOpps site, said David Drabkin, deputy associate administrator of GSA for acquisition policy.

'This is not an overhaul because the current system runs pretty well,' Drabkin said. He declined to specify what changes might be made to the system during the upgrade, saying, 'We are just adding some functionalities that are needed or agencies want.'

Science Applications International Corp. of San Diego holds the current contract, which expires in September.

Drabkin said he expects GSA will award the contract as a small business set-aside with a minimum base period of three years. In its market analysis, GSA found two or more small businesses qualified to do the work for the follow-on, he said.
