HHS app for preventive care runs on PDAs

Tommy Thompson

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality is making available a clinical application for personal digital assistants for doctors and other health care providers.

The Health and Human Services Department created the Preventive Services Selector to help physicians search for preventive services for patients based on each patient's age, gender and symptoms. Users can download the app in Palm OS, Pocket PC and HTML formats.

'This new tool puts the latest information about prevention into the hands of doctors, who can put it to use immediately by recommending the appropriate preventive services for each individual patient,' HHS secretary Tommy Thompson said.
