17-year-old cicada

Back in 1987, Argonne National Laboratory photographer Wes P. Agresta never dreamed his Kodachrome bug study would cause a media frenzy in 2004. 'A national news site posted it with incorrect credit to Argonne,' he says, 'but it's my own work. A cicada likes to be upside-down. I took it off a tree and put it back. The shot is rotated 180 degrees.'
