Piecing together a family history can be a lifelong avocation of connecting the dots among family members. The National Archives and Records Administration is increasingly putting records online to aid researchers. Via ,a href= "http://www.archives.gov">www.archives.gov, geneaologists now can purchase reproductions of military pension records, military pension application files for service before 1917, pages of census schedules from 1790 to 1930, and some land records. The site also links to NARA's Access to Archival Database system, which allows users to search many sources. One database, for example, provides World War II enlistment records for more than nine million Army soldiers. Taken together, the databases provide online access to nearly 50 million historic records created by more than 20 federal agencies.
