VA database will list every FDA-OK'd drug

The Veterans Affairs Department will publish a request for proposals at the end of the month for a commercial database for pharmacy information.

The database will include every drug product approved by the Food and Drug Administration for manufacture and distribution, VA said earlier this month.

Currently, the Veterans Health Administration has a system, maintained nationally and updated occasionally to local facilities, which contains a package called the National Drug File. The system, however, cannot be integrated with the planned network.
