Summer circuit
Fifty-seven high school students in the Washington area got advanced training in engineering this summer'and, perhaps, a start toward DARPA or NIST'during a seven-week course at Johns Hopkins University. HeadsUP (for Hopkins Engineering Advanced Summer University Program) was held at the university's campus in Rockville, Md. Students got college-level training in robotics, circuitry, building spaghetti bridges and computer modeling.
