DTIC administrator calls it a career

An administrator at the Defense Technical Information Center with more than 44 years of federal service under his belt has announced his retirement.
Kurt N. Molholm became DTIC's administrator in 1985 and led the agency's transformation to the Internet world, according to an agency release. Upon retirement on Nov. 1, Molholm said, he and his wife will stay in the Washington area.
'I've been told that retirement is like a long vacation in Las Vegas. The goal is to enjoy it to the fullest, but not so fully that you run out of money. We plan to meet that goal,' Molholm said in the release.
R. Paul Ryan, DTIC's deputy administrator, has been named acting DTIC administrator.
Before coming to DTIC, which provides Defense scientific, research and engineering information, Molholm held various IT, analysis, logistical and computer management positions with the Defense Logistics Agency and served as an Army Quartermaster Officer.
He holds degrees from the University of Oregon, George Washington University and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.
DLA awarded Molholm both the Exceptional Civilian Service and Meritorious Civilian Service medals.
