Connecticut hires new CIO

Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell has appointed Diane Wallace to lead the state's IT Department and serve as CIO, the governor's office announced this week.

Wallace has held top-level technology positions in the private sector. She previously was vice president of IT with CNA Financial Corp. of Chicago. Before that, she served as CIO for Aetna Inc. of Hartford, Conn.

Wallace was selected following a national search. She will earn $145,000 annually. She succeeds Rock Regan, who resigned last year after serving seven years in the position.

The Connecticut IT Department, which is located in East Hartford, has more than 300 employees and an annual budget of about $90 million.
