State turns to Northrop Grumman unit for information security work
The State Department has awarded a $22.9 million contract to Northrop Grumman Corp. to provide information assurance and security support services, the company announced today. The one-year contract has three one-year options.
Under the contract, Northrop Grumman IT of McLean, Va., will support the Diplomatic Security Bureau by assessing, auditing and reviewing the State Department's network domains for security vulnerabilities.
Northrop Grumman's partners on the project are Trinity Information Management Services Inc. of McLean; JIL IT Consulting and Services Inc. of Stafford, Va.; and CGI-AMS of Fairfax, Va.
From its various security assessments, Northrop Grumman IT will provide technical recommendations and support, administer security training and implement current technologies to improve system security for the bureau.
The company also will provide information assurance support to the Bureau of Consular Affairs by developing security programs and maintaining security policies, practices and operating procedures.
In addition, the company will help enhance the bureau's applications security as well as monitor system maintenance and alert administrators to security weaknesses.
