New Labor site helps Katrina victims find jobs

The Labor Department has unveiled an expanded Web site to assist people displaced by Hurricane Katrina find new jobs.

'Workers displaced by the hurricane are eager to get back to work and rebuild their lives,' said Labor secretary Elaine Chao. 'We have created this new Internet resource to connect workers to employers who have jobs to give, including temporary jobs cleaning up and rebuilding devastated communities.'

The site, at www.dol.gov, lets hurricane victims search for jobs helping the Gulf Coast recover from the storm. It also gives employers the ability to post jobs and screen resumes submitted by people displaced by the hurricane.
