NIH systems admin work to get A-76 review
The National Institutes of Health has announced a competitive sourcing study to determine whether its systems administration activities should be contracted out instead of remaining inside the government.
Under the Office of Management and Budget's Circular A-76, NIH will review the services now provided by 81 federal employees. The agency of the Health and Human Services Department posted the announcement earlier this month at FedBizOpps.gov
The competitive sourcing analysis will study operational planning, operational continuity, systems man- agement, system se- curity, backup and re- covery, training, support and documentation to assess if contractors can perform the activities at a lower cost.
NIH plans to complete the competitive review Dec. 14 and announce the decision by Dec. 19.
In another competitive sourcing review, HHS decided to keep IT and systems operations support services in the department's in-house program support center.
