Tenix Datagate, EAL 7

They said it couldn't be done with a commercial product, but someone finally did it. Tenix Datagate Inc. of McLean, Va., received EAL 7 Common Criteria certification, the highest security level awarded by the National Information Assurance Partnership, for its Data Diode.

This two-port appliance allows a secure network to receive data from a nonsecured network without the risk of leaking any itself. 'This is for a device with very narrowly limited functions. Even so, achieving that certification is a major accomplishment,' said Jonathan Shapiro, assistant professor of computer science at Johns Hopkins University.
