New specs for DOD Architecture Framework

The board of directors of the Object Management Group has approved several new specifications, including a unified modeling language (UML) profile for the Defense Department Architecture Framework.
OMG finished the adoption process last month for four new standards, and the group's board of directors approved them, including the UML profile for DOD's Architecture Framework, which also applies to the Architecture Framework used by the United Kingdom's Ministry of Defence.
The UML profile defines how programmers model key functions ' including the structure of applications, behavior and architectures ' in addition to business processes and structures.
For DOD's Architecture Framework, the OMG's approval created a UML 2 profile that will let programmers express and organize model elements in ways that specifically meet the needs of the defense community.
