The Wikimedia Foundation has set out to make Wikipedia even
easier for contributors to use. A project team of three software
developers, an interface designer and a project manager will
identify the biggest hurdles to first-time contributors and then
work to eliminate them. Just like that. It seems like a healthy
approach to improving a site, one that anyone, or perhaps any
agency, could follow. But of course, it’s not that easy for
everyone — the foundation got a $890,000 grant from the
Stanton Foundation to do the work. There’s a gift that could
keep on giving.
