Silverlight hot, Java not?
The competition to add dynamic functionality to Web sites has heated up in recent years. Adobe's Flash and Sun Microsystems' Java plug-ins have traditionally offered Web designers the ability to run animation or small programs within the browser. Lately, however, Java's presence on the desktop seems to be fading while a new contender, Microsoft's Silverlight, is on the rise, at least according to the results of an informal, ongoing survey taken by DreamingWell, called Rich Internet Applications Statistics.

Adobe Flash: 97 percent
Java: 74 percent
Silverlight: 23 percent
