The Numerator: Smart phones to the fore
3G smart phone will the the most common mobile device in about two years, a new report says
Full-blown 3G smart phones are expected to overtake basic models with 3G features sometime in 2012 to become the most common mobile Internet device, according to a new report from eMarketer. The report, drawing on Morgan Stantley’s projections of worldwide shipments of high-speed wireless Internet-enabled devices, also concludes that laptop PCs will continue to be the most common mobile device that’s too big to fit in one hand, although it does expect that netbooks and tablet PCs will gain ground.
