Virginia will partner with nonprofit organization Noblis on a research
center to house a supercomputer, said to be the first Cray
XMT not connected to a federal lab or a university, Sarah Rich reports in Government Technology.
The multi-million dollar center is scheduled to open this fall in Danville, Va., and will be named the Center for Applied High Performance Computing, the article said.
Some small businesses and researchers in
Danville will have access to the supercomputer and the center will
be a training ground for high-performance computing, the article added.
