Tricare's high-tech button

The Blue Button tool is an enhancement to Tricare Online, the Defense Department’s online gateway to military health care services, which serves 9.6 million beneficiaries. Tricare Online is composed of various commercial off-the-shelf applications and government-developed software on Sun Fire servers running the Solaris 10 operating system. The application and database server is Oracle 10g. The servers are located at secure sites managed by the Defense Information Systems Agency.

Tricare Online also includes the Composite Health Care System, the military’s inpatient electronic record database, which includes appointment and prescription data.

Designing the Blue Button access to the integrated data in Tricare Online was part of a major redesign of the entire Tricare Online system, including a major technology platform upgrade and a complete website redesign. In addition to Blue Button access to health records, the redesigned system allows beneficiaries to schedule doctor’s appointments and refill prescriptions.

The Blue button does not work. I have been trying for 6 months. I have been told there is no funding for it. Very disappointing.
