DOD video makes sense of semantic technology

Is semantic technology one of those terms that makes your eyes glaze over? Or maybe decide it’s a great time to reach for your smart phone to check messages?

It's OK. It’s one of those concepts that can be difficult to grasp, involving as it does "the Internet of things," machine-to-machine formats, ontologies and so forth. But Dennis Wisnosky, chief technical officer with the Defense Department's Office of the Deputy Chief Management Officer and his team can help.

They’ve put an explanation of semantic technology into a concise, understandable video, which Wisnosky included in a talk at 1105 Media’s Enterprise Architecture conference in Vienna, Va., Nov. 7. The video, also posted on YouTube, even shows that you can make good use of PowerPoint slides. Check it out below.

I'm sure Mr.Wisnosky means well, but this video is worse than a bad joke. It does help to explain, however, why Secretary Gates decided to shut down the Business Transformation Agency.
