YouTube, NASCIO reach deal on terms of service
State governments will have safer access to YouTube thanks to an agreement they reached with the video-sharing site, according to
a press release from the National Association of State Chief Information Officers.
After a long round of negotiations dealing with legal issues such as indemnification and court of jurisdiction, YouTube agreed to modify its terms of service agreement exclusively for state governments, according to NASCIO. The group said the modifications would make it easier and safer for state governments to use the site.
The announcement comes just a couple of weeks after Facebook agreed to revise its terms of service for state and local government agencies,
GCN reported earlier this month. Legal issues played a large role in those negotiations as well. As part of the agreement, Facebook removed a requirement from the terms of service that legal disputes with state and local agencies be settled in California courts.
