Oracle releases 78 software patches
Oracle has released dozens of critical software patches, in part to address vulnerabilities in products ranging from Oracle Database Server, Solaris, Fusion Middleware, E-Business Suite, and MySQL, Ars Technica reported.
The patches address flaws that "may be remotely exploitable without authentication, i.e., may be exploited over a network without the need for a username and password," according to the report.
One of the fixes in the batch of 78 critical patches released Jan. 17 addresses vulnerabilities in Versions 10.1 through 11.2 of Database's listener program, which is designed to accept remote commands from other applications.
InfoWorld had studied the flaw in Oracle's Database that it said could compromise the security and stability of the system and brought it to the company's attention.
Ars Technica said most of the bugs do not present a threat to data security, but they could be used to crash applications.
