Building a Private Optical Network

In an era of increasing budget constraints and growing demand for huge amounts of network bandwidth, many government agencies are wrestling with the options of building dedicated, private networks or continuing to buy managed network services. This deliberation applies to campus, base, metro, and regional networks, as well as nationwide Wide Area Networks (WANs). In particular, the option to build a private network becomes more attractive with the need to support emerging trends such as big data, mobility, and data center consolidation, or to enhance the reliability and security of mission-critical traffic.
