Army combines pair of advanced tech programs

The Army has merged its Land Warrior and Future Force Warrior initiatives to speed development of new technologies.

General Dynamics Corp.'s command, control, computers and communications systems division will manage the merged program. General Dynamics' C4 systems group had been responsible for the Land Warrior program, while the company's Land Systems division was in charge of the Future Force Warrior initiative.

Land Warrior integrates small arms with high-tech equipment. The initial increment to the program brings a dismounted battle command system to soldiers.

The Army views Future Force Warrior as its flagship science and technology program. Through the program, the Army creates and tests new technologies to support transformation.
