NIST signs on to Microsoft security plan
The National Institute of Standards and Technology has joined Microsoft Corp.'s Government Security Program.
The Government Security Program is an expansion of the company's Shared Source Initiative, which has made source code available to customers, development partners and governments since 2001. Other Shared Source Initiative programs focus on product support and development. The government program focuses on the security needs of national governments.
NIST will be the lead agency for other agencies that want to use the program.
