BAE wins $58 million services contract

BAE Systems North America Inc. won a $58 million contract for technical services from the Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, the company said today. The contract could reach $314 million if all options are exercised.

The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center in Charleston, S.C., provides the Defense Department with command, control, computers, communications, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance engineering and integrated solutions.

Under the contract, BAE Systems will design, build and maintain security and antiterrorism-force protection systems at government facilities worldwide.

The award, which replaces a previous contract, includes associated engineering, technical and logistics services. The new award also allows for design and installation of new and future antiterrorism-force protection systems.

BAE Systems has provided engineering and technical support to the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center and its preceding organizations since the late 1960s.

Based in Rockville, Md., BAE Systems North America Inc. is the U.S. subsidiary of BAE Systems PLC of Farnborough, England. The parent company, one of the largest foreign players in the U.S. defense market, employs 97,500 people worldwide and had 2004 revenue of nearly $25.7 billion.

The company's North America unit designs, develops, manufactures and supports various advanced aerospace products for the federal and commercial sectors. It is No. 12 on the 2004 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors published by GCN's sister publication, Washington Technology. The 2005 Top 100 list will be published May 9.
