NASA hires SecureInfo for IT security compliance assistance

NASA has awarded a contract to SecureInfo Corp. of San Antonio to supply software for the agency's risk management system used for compliance with the Federal Information Security Management Act in certification and accreditation.

The agency's Office of Security and Program Protection (OSPP) is spearheading efforts to automate the documents IT system owners need to maintain and report compliance with regulations, and to assist in standardizing certification and accreditation preparation across all of NASA's enterprise systems.

The SecureInfo software 'allows us to centrally manage and streamline the compliance process, keep the flexibility needed for the vast array of systems we have at NASA and still ensure the agency's overarching information security policy is adhered to,' said Jamil Farshchi, certification and accreditation program manager in OSPP.

The specific value of the contract was not released, but SecureInfo spokesman Chris Rallo said it was a multimillion-dollar purchase made through the Scientific and Engineering Work Station Procurement II contract.
