The Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (www.oasis-open.org) has put its seal of approval on the Service Oriented Architecture Reference Model. SOA-RM formally defines the significant entities of an SOA and the relationships between them. The framework was designed to resolve the differing and sometimes conflicting definitions of SOA. The formal definition? SOA 'is a paradigm for organizing and utilizing distributed capabilities that may be under the control of different ownership domains,' according to the model
