The numerator

All the time and effort volunteers have put it into creating Wikipedia is impressive, but it is only a fraction of what the human race is capable of producing, Internet culture consultant Clay Shirky has estimated. If we devoted as much time to research and writing as we spend in front of the boob tube, we could produce 2,000 Wikipedias a year, he said at the Web 2.0 Conference held in San Francisco in April (GCN GCN.com/1083).
