ATEN serial device manages remotely

ATEN Technology yesterday announced a new serial device server that enables secure, remote management of serial devices such as servers, routers, PBX systems, telecommunications equipment and serial-based power management appliances.

The Serial Over the Net (SN3101) 3-in-1 device supports RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 data transfers. It also provides Ethernet connectivity for an array of serial devices used in applications for data acquisition, access control, banking and telecommunications, among other functions.

Some devices that would benefit from the SN3101 are climate control systems, printers, barcode scanners, digital displays and signs, medical telemetry devices and alarm systems, the company said.
