Red Hat debuts HPC package
Red Hat has formally jumped into the high-performance computing (HPC) fray. The company released a package for running Linux-based HPC clusters called the Red Hat HPC Solution.
Although Red Hat Enterprise Linux is already
somewhat well-used in the HPC community, this package integrates the OS with a number of management tools for easy deployment and management of clusters, according to Red Hat.
The package includes version 5.2 of RHEL and Platform Open Cluster Stack 5, cluster management software from Platform Computing. Also in the package are device drivers, a cluster installer, a resource and application monitor, a job scheduler and additional cluster management tools.
Prices start at $249 per node.
