The Open Geospatial Consortium is undertaking a rewrite of the standards for Web services.
The geospatial standards organization — an international consortium of more than 380 companies, government agencies and universities — has announced that it is studying changes in the OpenGIS Web Services Common Standard, which specifies parameters and data structures used in Web operation requests and responses. Typical operations are such things as handling bounding boxes and processing URL requests.
The OGC is soliciting public comment about potential changes to the standards until May 20. The OpenGIS Web Services Common Standard Request for Comment document can be downloaded here.
