Are security-savvy execs wary of the cloud?

Organizations with strong security practices are more likely to entrust their data to cloud providers, according to a July survey by the Ponemon Institute, an information security research firm.

In the study, Ponemon surveyed 4,140 business and IT managers across the world, of which 13 percent were central and local government executives.

The finding, "appears to be at odds with the common suggestion that the more security-aware organizations are more skeptical of cloud security and that it is the less security-aware organizations are willing to overlook a perceived lack of security," according to Ponemon. Here are some select findings from the survey.

Does your organization transfer sensitive or confidential data to the cloud?

Who is responsible for protecting data in the cloud?

Can your agency safeguard information before moving it to the cloud?
