Air Force seeks media-simulating training tool

Petersen Air Force Base is looking for distributors of SimulationDeck, a platform developed by Nusura, Inc., designed to simulate the flow of email, social media, blogs and other communications under crisis conditions.

In a sources-sought notice on FedBizOpps, Peterson’s contracting office said it would also consider sources that were capable of providing a product that had the features or capabilities of SimulationDeck to help sharpen communications in high pressure training exercises.

Nusura, which has a patent pending on SimulationDeck, according to its website, said the platform simulates “the pressures created by the media and social media today” in a fashion that “makes any training or exercise more realistic, more engaging and more effective.”

The application feeds notifications via mobile email or text and monitors simulated news coverage, “to ensure key messages are picked up by the media and amplified by social media sites.”  The simulation players use their standard communication tools, and “SimulationDeck simulates the rest,” according to the company.

Resources must be coordinated, rumors addressed and misinformation corrected in real time, according to the firm, which calls SimulationDeck “a breakthrough application that helps us prepare in the way we must perform.”

The Peterson AFB said the “product/solution must have the capability of replicating integrated and interactive mainstream news websites, government agency home pages and major social media sites to support a variety of command exercises. The product or solution must also have

the ability to upload and stream videos, print stories, photographs, blogs and social media posts on pages that look and function like mainstream and social media sites.

Potential sources must also have the technical and operational experience to provide remote, year-round technical and user support, according to Petersen.
